Dan Pardo, and “The 11 o’clock number” Chris-a-list

In this episode of The Genesius Difference Podcast, we introduce the “Ask a Genesius All-Star” segment where we ask listener questions to Genesius alum that have gone on to professional careers in the performing arts. Today, we talk to pianist and music director, Dan Pardo. His credits include off-Broadway productions of I Spy a Spy, The Office! A Musical Parody, Found, Rothchild and Sons, among others.

He made his Broadway debut as assistant conductor and keyboardist for Amazing Grace at the Nederlander Theatre. He served as music director for the acclaimed Netflix special, John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch. He also has a web series/podcast, Pardo’s Turn, where he analyzes an iconic showtune from a music director’s point of view, and performs the song with friends and colleagues.

This episode also sees the debut of the ‘Chris-a-list’ segment with longtime Genesius performer and director, Chris Sperat. Chris will put his encyclopedic knowledge of all things Broadway to use, sharing some of his favorite Broadway shows and moments, and what makes them so memorable.

On today’s segment, Chris talks about the “11 o’clock number”, that big, show-stopping song in a show found late in the final act.
